Things That Warm the Heart

I love doing laundry in a natural way so that my family does not have to sleep and breath wrapped in a cocoon of chemicals.  Out clothes, towels, sheets all have toxic chemicals in them if you are using commercial store purchased laundry soap and dryer sheets.  Imagine 24/7 you have a sheet of chemicals next to your body.  And did you know the skin is the largest organ of the body??  Protect it by doing your laundry with a safe chemical free alternative.  Here is one of the ways I do laundry naturally with soap nuts.  Watch this video to see how to use them.

They last quite a while, I bought a 3 lb bag last summer and have only used about 1/3 of it.  6-8 of the nuts can last for a few washings. Of course I add a few drops of essential oils by Young Living to each linen bag before I throw it into the wash.  If you have questions or want to know more about essential oils click here.

• 1 large egg
• half a medium lemon, juiced (approximately 1 Tablespoon)
• ½ teaspoon dijon mustard
• ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
• ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
• 1 cup light olive oil

Directions

1. Begin by placing all ingredients in a wide mouth mason jar of other tall, cylinder shaped container. I generally use the one that came with my immersion blender.Make sure the white pepper is not clumped up and let the ingredients sit for a minute or two until the oil rises to the top.
2. Place the immersion blender in so that it sits firmly on the bottom of the container. Set it to the highest speed and turn on. Do NOT pull the blender up or out, just allow it to sit at the bottom of the container. The mayo will emulsify and begin creeping up the sides.
3. Once most of the mixture has emulsified and looks like mayo (less than a minute!), you can begin to move the immersion blender up and down to incorporate any oil that is sitting on the top.
4. Place in a container with a lid, keep refrigerated and use up within one week.
5. ALTERATION SUGGESTIONS I often add a twist to the mayo if I am making something special like these suggestions:
   1. add some Jalapenos if you want some spicy burgers
   2. add garlic and italian seasoning and put n bread for the oven
   3. add Tapitio sauce to taste and what a kicker!
   4. add whatever you want, experiment, play with it!

DIY THIEVES WIPES

WHAT YOU NEED:

Roll of paper towels cut in half

1/2 – 1 C distilled or boiled water

Container for storing or gallon size plastic zip top bags

10 – 15 drops of Thieves essential oil.

Instructions:

Cut the paper towel roll in half with a serrated knife, use scissors to clean up and cut any loose edging.  Pull out inner cardboard roll.  Place half roll in gallon size plastic bag with a close able top.  In a glass container mix the Thieves essential oil and water, start with 1/2 cup.  Pour over towel roll, close and leave over night.  You may need to add more water later if the towels seem to need more. If not you can keep them in the bag or what I do is divide it up and place them into small containers and keep one in each bathroom under the sink for quick wipe ups, mirrors, faucets, shower, under the kitchen sink for spills and cleaning counter tops, and a small bag in my purse for on the go cleaning.  It’s a real money saver versus commercial wipes out there and the added plus is there are not toxic chemicals in these wipes!  If you like this idea, please share by clicking the links below.
